(Minneapolis, MN – May 20, 2008)—Walter Bond, former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher basketball player, former NBA basketball player, former MN Timberwolves color analyst and current professional speaker, has earned the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation. Established in 1980, the CSP is the speaking profession’s international measure of speaking expertise andskill. Fewer than 10 percent of the speakers who belong to the International Federation for Professional Speakers hold this professional designation.
The CSP designation is conferred by the National Speakers Association (NSA) and the International Federation of Professional Speakers (IFPS) only on accomplished speakers who have earned it by meeting strict criteria. CSPs must document a proven track record of continuing speaking experience and expertise as well as a commitment to ongoing education, outstanding client service and ethical behavior. Bond is one of the 41 professionals to earn the CSP in the class of 2008. Bond will be honored during a ceremony on August 3rd at the 2008 NSA Convention in New York City, New York.
Walter Bond began his professional speaking career in 2001 after being encouraged to do so by his former college basketball coach Clem Haskins. After leaving the basketball court he found much success on the big stage. Today Bond presents for over a hundred clients each year. A few of those include Wells Fargo, Bridgestone/Firestone, American Family Insurance, State Farm Insurance, SuperValu and 3M. Bond’s motivational programs inspire audiences to reach their professional and personal goals each year by committing themselves to continuous improvement.
Bond has been honored by Minnesota Meetings and Events Magazine as Speaker of the Year in 2006. He has been named Program Presenter of the Year by Meeting Professionals International-Dallas/Fort Worth chapter in 2007. Bond is the author of All Buts Stink a self help book that has gotten rave reviews. He has also created a library of videos and cd’s that are used by many corporations for training and development.
The National Speakers Association (NSA) is the leading organization for professional speakers.
